Salako Treasure, a 100-level student at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun state, reportedly killed herself by ingesting a substance thought to be a sniper.
A bottle of a sniper was discovered next to the body of the deceased, who was reportedly from the Department of Entrepreneur, on Wednesday evening inside an unfinished building near the Lagere neighbourhood of the town.
Findings showed that Salako had been enduring emotional distress before the fatal event, which several of her acquaintances were aware of.
Abiodun Olarewaju, the university's public relations officer, confirmed the tragedy and expressed regret that the university had lost such a potential student to such sad events.

The university, which is run by Vice-Chancellor Professor Simeon Bamire, is saddened that a student of that tender age could decide to do such a thing. "Unfortunately, we had lost a part one student, a promising young lady to what was alleged to be suicide, although it happened outside campus, we are not happy that we could lose such a person under such circumstances," the university said.
"We urge Nigerians to look out for one another. The point is that she experienced depression, and because many around her were aware of this, they should have recommended that she reach out to an elderly person or someone who might assist her with psycho-emotional problems."
We feel sorry for ourselves, particularly the parent who lost a young woman with a promising future. I want to warn you that there are ups and downs in this life.
"Emotional, psychological, or academic challenges shouldn't drive someone to consider suicide. We called the police and they evacuated her remains," he stated.
Additionally, Yemisi Opalola, the spokeswoman for the Osun Police Command, stated that the body had been taken away and deposited at the university teaching hospital.
She also said that the inquiry into the circumstances of her death was still ongoing.
