Senator Godswill Akpabio has been chosen as the 10th Senate's president.
After the Senate's election, Akpabio was chosen for the Senate floor.
As a member of the All Progressives Congress, he defeated Senator Abdulaziz Yari as the winner.
Later, the former governor of Akwa Ibom took the oath of office. Senators were summoned out by their states to cast their ballots, and the election was conducted using a secret ballot system.
Similarly to this, Senator Jibrin Barau was elected and sworn in as the deputy senate president.
The Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House have not yet been named, but an identical procedure is being carried out in the House of Representatives. The open voting process was adopted.
