On Saturday, a female officer of the Nigerian Air Force who only went by the name George reportedly committed herself in her home in Ikeja, Lagos State.
According to news reports, George, a Master Warrant Officer assigned to the 651 Base Services Group and a resident of Block T5 Flat 8 at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base Ikeja, was discovered dead at her residence. As a result, her body has been removed so that a thorough investigation of her death can be conducted.
According to a military signal obtained by reporters, Master Warrant Officer George, a female member of the Nigerian Air Force stationed with the 651 Base Services Group, committed suicide on June 10 at around 1400 hours in her room at the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base in Ikeja. 3 Air Provost is still working to remove her from 661NAFH while the investigation is ongoing.

At least 79 persons, including 70 men and 9 women, committed suicide in Nigeria in 2022, according to sources.
The number of suicides that have not been covered by the media is not included in the statistic.
According to the breakdown, Lagos had the most suicide instances with 12, followed by Oyo with 10, Kano with 4, Anambra with 3, Edo with 3, Delta with 3, Ogun with 3, and Rivers with 3.
There were two cases each in Borno, Bayelsa, Abia, Benue, FCT, Imo, Enugu, Niger, Jos, Jigawa, Kaduna, and Kwara.
Other states with one instance each included Ondo, Osun, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Gombe, Cross-River, Kogi, Adamawa, Ekiti, Bauchi, and Yobe.
Additionally, it had been reported that Major U.J. Undianyede, a former battalion commanding officer who oversaw the North East's campaign against Boko Haram, had reportedly committed suicide on May 19.
It was discovered that he committed suicide less than 72 hours before a court-martial ruling on his case for alleged military misconduct during the war.
