Anxiety as FG, labour meet today- Fuel subsidy
On Monday, June 19th, the Federal Government's representatives and the NLC's leadership will pick up their discussions on possible solutions to the problem of the removal of the gasoline subsidy.
Recall that on May 29, when the fuel subsidy was eliminated, the NLC vowed to use industrial action to shut down the economy of the nation.
But on June 5, the NLC declared that its planned strike had been called off following a series of discussions with the federal government.
However, the NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, made specific proposals that would mitigate the impact of the increase in fuel prices and other necessary commodity prices brought on by the loss of subsidies.
In the meeting scheduled for today at 4 pm, it is anticipated that some of the requests will be unified by both parties.
The parties will meet again at the presidential Villa in Abuja, according to Kachallom Daju, permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.
