EPL: Arsenal boss, Arteta ‘receives sack warning’
Tony Adams, Arsenal legend, has warned that the club ‘have peaked’, suggesting that manager Mikel Arteta could be in danger of losing his job.
Arsenal came second in the Premier League this season despite being top of the league for the majority of the season.
At one point, the Gunners were eight points clear of Pep Guardiola’s side and looked set to lift the Premier League trophy for the first time in 19 years.
However, the north London side suffered a late collapse which City pounced on to lift the trophy.
“Mikel Arteta worked wonders to get Arsenal into second place considering the players he had at his disposal,” Adams told The Sun.
“But when a manager has massively over-performed and raised a club’s expectations so high, there’s often a fallout if the level of improvement isn’t maintained the following season."
“And when that happens, he’s often gone by Christmas."
“I am not for one minute suggesting that the Gunners are going to be getting rid of Arteta, but I do fear that this could be as good as it gets for them,” he added.
