FEMA: Flood submerges 116 houses at Trademore Estate image

An intense downpour that happened on Friday destroyed the residents of Trademore Estate in the Nigerian district of Lugbe's Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
After many hours of rain, there was severe flooding that inundated at least 116 homes and cost hundreds of millions of naira in property damage.

FEMA Reaffirms the Occurrence


The event was verified in a statement released on Friday by Dr Abbas G. Idriss, Director General of the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). He said that after receiving a distress call from the estate, the agency dispatched employees to the area. He continued by saying that the organization was collaborating with other parties to offer support and relief to the impacted residents.
Additionally, Dr Idriss recommended those living in flood-prone areas exercise caution and follow safety protocols, particularly during the rainy season. He cautioned them against disposing of trash in storm drains and erecting constructions near waterways. He assured us that FEMA would keep an eye on the issue and take appropriate action.


Trademore Estate: A Well-liked Neighborhood


Along Airport Road in the Lugbe District, one of the most favoured neighbourhoods is called Trademore Estate. Many middle-class and upper-class Nigerians who work in Abuja, the country's capital, call it home. The estate is equipped with cutting-edge amenities including tarmac roads, power, water supply, security, and recreation facilities.
There are 24 available homes at Trademore Estate, ranging in style from bungalows to duplexes, with prices ranging from 25 million to 40 million nairas, according to Nigeria Property Centre. The estate also offers land parcels for sale, with costs per parcel ranging from 7 million to 70 million naira.
The estate is situated behind neighbouring estates including Diamond Estate, River Park Estate, and Gold City Estate. Additionally, it is close to famous sites like Shoprite, the Federal Housing Bridge, and the Dunamis Dome.
