‘I denounce every loyalty to some godfather’ – Ruger says days after exiting D’Prince’s label
Singer Michael Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, has denounced loyalty to “some godfather,” saying this year is about himself.
The 24-year-old made the declaration days after exiting Jonzing World Records owned by Don Jazzy’s younger brother, D’Prince.
In a new freestyle titled ‘Blownboy’ released under his self-owned label, Blown Boy Entertainment, the singer officially denounced godfatherism, asserting himself as his new boss.
“I denounce every loyalty to some godfather, this year I’m about me,” he sang in the freestyle video posted on his YouTube page on Friday.
Ruger confirmed his departure from the label in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
“Thank you Jonzing world and dprince for believing in me and taking me this far. Wouldn’t have gotten here without you. It’s sad that I have to leave but God knows best. I am taking a big bet on myself this year. I don’t know it all but I know God will see me through. It is time for @blownboyent,” he wrote.
