List of all the 26 Governors-elect announced by INEC 2023 image
Below is the list of the 26 Governor-elects in Nigeria. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced 26 candidates as Governor-elects following the March 18 polls. More results are still coming in.


On Wednesday, (22nd 2023), Alex Otti of the Labour Party, LP (Labour Party), was declared the winner of the governorship election in Abia state. Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also emerged as the winner of the governorship election in Enugu State.


Currently, INEC has announced 26 governorship winners out of the 28, while the elections in Kebbi and Adamawa were declared inconclusive.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) won in 15 states, the People Democratic Party (PDP) won 9 states, and Labour Party (LP) won 1 state. The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) won in Kano state.


APC being the highest, have seven Governors re-elected.
They are:

  1. Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe state)

  2. Mai Mala Muni (Yobe state)

  3. Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa state)

  4. Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos state)

  5. Dapo Abiodun (Ogun state)

  6. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara state)

  7. Babagana Zulum (Borno state).



The ruling party also secured eight more candidates:


  1. Uba Sani (Kaduna state)

  2. Bassey Otu (Cross River state)

  3. Mohammed Bago (Niger state)

  4. Umar Namadi (Jigawa state)

  5. Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto state)

  6. Dikko Radda (Katsina state)

  7. Hyacinth Alia (Benue state)

  8. and Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi state)



PDP re-elected Governors are:

  1. Seyi Makinde (Oyo state)

  2. Bala Mohammed (Bauchi state)


While seven new governors emerge from PDP, making a total of 9 governors from the party.

New seven Governors from PDP:

  1. Kefas Agbu (Taraba state)

  2. Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau state)

  3. Peter Mbah (Enugu state)

  4. Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom state)

  5. Siminialayi Fubara (Rivers state)

  6. Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta state)



Dauda Lawal from PDP unseated Zamfara State Governor (Bello Matawalle) of APC, while Abba Kabir of the (NNPP) took over from the APC candidate in Kano State.
