Sola Ogungbe, the branch manager of a microfinance bank in Oyo state, reportedly committed himself due to unpaid loans. According to reports, the 41-year-old's prolonged absence from work prompted a call to his wife. When she arrived at their house, she found her husband's lifeless body lying on their bedroom floor.
An unidentified bank official claimed that several of Ogungbe's patrons had missed loan payments, which may have influenced his decision to take his own life. Ogungbe should have shared his problems with others, said a close friend of the deceased, because friendship and community are frequently the first steps toward finding solutions.
The state Police Public Relations Officer could not be reached for comment as of the time of publication. The deceased's body has been transported to his hometown of Kwara state.
