Nigeria’s ex-Head of Service, Adamu Fika dies at 90
An elder statesman and former Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Malam Adamu Fika is dead.
The death of the nonagenarian was announced by the Secretary of Fika Emirate Council Potiskum, Yobe State, Ali Gimba Fika in a statement.
According to the statement, “Mallam Adamu Fika, the Waziri of Fika was a renowned and seasoned educationist and administrator, a native of Fika, Yobe State, born in 1933 in Fika, Yobe State.”
“Fika is the first and only Nigeria’s Head of Service to resign because he was not comfortable being at the helm of affairs when by his training, he perceived the civil service was being destroyed”, the statement added.
The deceased his life held several prominent positions, including Head of Civil Service of the Federation in 1986, as well as permanent secretary at various federal ministries, including Internal Affairs, Commerce, and Communications, among others.
Xpertrend gathered that Fika died last night mid-flight while returning from London to Kaduna.
He was in a London hospital to treat an undisclosed ailment.
Funeral prayers will be held for him today, Wednesday by 4:00 pm at Sultan Bello Mosque, Kaduna.
