Soyinka: #EndSARS, one of the most successful movements image
The #EndSARS protest, according to Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, is one of Nigeria's most effective social movements.
In Lagos, Soyinka gave a speech on Friday during an interactive session for the publication of his book, "The Putin Files: Excursions Around The Ideology Of Pain."
Protesters nationwide took to the streets in October 2020, chanting the #EndSARS slogan and calling for an end to police violence.
The Nigeria Police Force's (NPF) special anti-robbery team was disbanded as a result of the protests.
Soyinka claimed that the #EndSARS demonstration was a manifestation of the nation's citizens' anger at the state of affairs.
He described how he spoke to several of the protesters at a demonstration held in Lagos.
One of the most popular movements is #EndSARS. It is genuine. It represented how people felt. It was planned out. The main thing was that it was founded on the truth, he remarked.
"When I noticed the crowd, I descended and spoke to them. I was brought back to the anti-Abacha movement by it. when I would address the throng while standing in the median."

A FEW WOULD LIKE AN INTERIM GOVERNMENT

Even before the elections in 2023, according to Soyinka, some people plotted to "tilt" the country in favour of having an interim administration.
He claimed that individuals who backed the plot to establish an interim administration were duped into doing so.
The Department of State Services (DSS) claimed there was a scheme to impose an interim administration on Nigerians in the run-up to the 2023 elections.
"Someone had devised a plan to sway the nation in favor of an interim administration. Even before the election, that inclination was obvious," Soyinka stated.
Soyinka also made comparisons between the #EndSARS movement and the Peter Obi movement, claiming that the latter's followers are based on "half-truth" as their main argument.
"So some of people who believed they were being radical were actually being'mumu' and following others' instructions. They believed they were strong, audacious, and creative," Soyinka stated.
You simply don't assert that it matters who shouts the loudest. There is no issue if you wish to come out with the truth. I'll say it again: "You want to accuse others of things that can't be proven, even though some will respond with their rigid monologue. I won't support it or remain silent. Impossible. Especially considering that, despite what many people might deny, I know more about these topics than they do.
"They may return to the internet, access their abuse dictionary, and begin anew. I'll let them know that you are "mumu" when I return. You weren't following the script.
Soyinka criticized Datti Baba-Ahmed's comments about the results of the presidential election while he was the LP's previous vice-presidential candidate.
However, he received criticism from Obi's Obedient fans.
