Cryptocurrencies have gained popularity over the years, as an alternative to government-issued currency. So many people have made crypto their only way of saving funds, some use crypto as a way of receiving payments from customers, while many people trade crypto. In this article we will be listing the top five most expensive cryptocurrencies as of December 7, 2022.

  1. Bitcoin (BTC)


    Bitcoin, which is also the largest in terms of market capitalization, is the first in the list of the most expensive cryptocurrencies with its price at $17,062.57 as of December 7, 2022. Other Derivatives of BTC, is wrapped bitcoin, which is an Ethereum-compatible token pegged to the value of the original bitcoin.


  2. PAX Gold (PAXG)


    PAX's gold price is $1,770.64 as of December 7, 2022, it has a small market capitalization of $576.9 million.
    PAX gold is an Ethereum-based cryptocurrency entirely backed by gold and pegged 1:1 to the price of an ounce of gold. The currency was launched in 2019 as a way for investors to break into gold investing without being held to the minimum buy requirements imposed on commodity purchases.
    Each token represents a fraction of a London Good Delivery gold bar, which is stored in Brink’s vaults, according to Paxos.


  3. Ethereum (ETH)


    Ethereum’s price as of December 7, 2022, is $1,264.03, making it the third most expensive cryptocurrency. The Canadian-Russian programmer Vitalik Buterin was the first to envision a new, more practical cryptocurrency, which he presented in a white paper published in 2013. His Ethereum coin started at $0.31 on the day of its initial offering, meaning Ethereum’s value has grown 44.6k% since it first began trading less than 10 years ago.




  4. Maker (MKR)


    The maker coin's current price is $628.82 as of December 7, 2022, with a total market capitalization of about $614.3 million. Maker was launched in 2017, making it one of the youngest digital currencies. An interesting feature of this coin is that it works somewhat like the shares of a company in that each holder has the right to vote on the development of the coin, which is meant for use on decentralized finance platforms.



  5. Binance Coin (BNB)


    Binance coin is the fifth most expensive cryptocurrency, with its price at $290.0 as of December 7, 2022. BNB is owned by Binance the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, and it also supports some sub-projects, such as Binance Chain, Binance Smart Chain, Binance Academy, and Trust Wallet, according to CoinMarketCap. Binance coin is the native token on the Binance exchange and is used throughout much of the Binance ecosystem.
